Bin Thefts in Co-operative area

Bin Thefts in Drumchapel Housing Co-operative area

In light of recent wheelie bin thefts in the Co-operative area, we are encouraging tenants to follow the process below:

Phone the Police on 101 and obtain a crime reference number

Contact Glasgow City Council (Cleansing section) on 0141 287 9700 and quote the police reference number when requesting replacement bins

We are aware that approximately 30-60 bins have been stolen and set alight and we are working with partner agencies to identify those responsible. As a temporary measure, Taylor bins are being located on footpaths outside of properties until the current situation can be brought under control.

To address this problem, we are undertaking partnership working with Glasgow City Council and undertaking the following measures:

Checking CCTV footage to help identify persons involved

Liaising with Scottish Fire & Rescue

Requesting increased police patrols

Involving campus police to work with schools and help identify persons responsible

Engaging with G15 to provide additional funding to assist with diversionary projects

All tenants will have received a letter over the past week which should assist in informing everyone with our temporary refuse arrangements.
