Update from Scottish Water Works - 10 February 2021

Update from Scottish Water Works: Kinfauns Drive, Drumchapel

Scottish Water have recently updated the Drumchapel Community Council on the current progress at Kinfauns Drive and in the process of arranging an online meeting to field any further questions or reassurance required.

Ground consolidation works were completed before Christmas and repairs to the water main, and to a section of the sewer are ongoing. Unfortunately, during the investigations of the sewer, it was apparent that a section is beyond repair and required a new section of sewer, and associated infrastructure.

This has meant an extension to the timeline and now aim to have these works completed by the end of March 2021 and the backfilling and reinstatement works to be carried out in April 2021. Once these are completed the road should be re-opened in May 2021.

As with all works of this nature, programmes are often subject to change due to events outwith our control, such as adverse weather conditions, and particularly any additional restrictions in relation to the Covid 19 pandemic which may be introduced by the Scottish Government.

Works were delayed considerably last year due to the shutdown of all construction sites due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. When this reopened we proceeded very cautiously with our own restart programme over a number of months.

We would like to reassure you that this essential operational work will be carried out in line with Scottish Government guidance and we take all the appropriate safety measures and precautions to protect our staff and our customers.

To ensure safe working and allow for safe distancing by our workforce, while ensuring the safety of the people in the community, we have implemented the following strict measures:

.              Safe working environment, including safe working signage and welfare arrangements where required

.              Social distancing to protect employees and the public

.              Compliance with current safe operating procedures for the construction sector in Scotland.
